SEARCH ENGINES

The best way to search the Internet for information through one of the special websites called Search Engines.  These websites contain input boxes which allow the user to enter the keywords,  i.e..  the important words about the topic they are searching for.  For example,  to search for the information about Toronto Blue Jays baseball team one would enter ‘Toronto Blue Jays’ into the search box.  If one wanted to be more specific, like looking for the names of the players, one would enter ‘Toronto Blue Jays players’ or even ‘Toronto Blue Jays player names’ to come up with the selection of websites that might contain this information.

These are some of the popular Search Engines on the Internet:

www.google.com

www.altavista.com

www.lycos.com

www2.infoseek.com

www.yellowpages.ca  (for finding people and businesses in Canada)
